No Leap Year

So, when I figure it out this weekend, everyone can look forward to tons o' great links to some other neat sketchers out there in the world. Many years ago, when I viewed my first "graphical" web page, I had no idea that I'd be roaming through strangers sketchbooks that are on the other side of the world. It's really neat, and amazing that a picture still communicates so much and that it is so universal. Sketchers of the World, Unite!

And just to prove it is gray and going to rain because I left my umbrella on the bus!

West Portal

Another gray day for the city by the bay. Accidentally discovered West Portal after living by it for years - got dumped by the 48 in a deep fog night and suddenly I was confronted by MUNIs best architectural feature of the 70's. Like an orange peel the station opens up onto an old town style main street, the trains disappear into Twin Peaks tunnel and the lonely MUNI voice echoes, "Outbound Train, L L , ten minutes...

Relationships

So, this is an old drawing, conjured up at the old Shamrock on Lincoln. I have a friend, who had a CEO who put popcorn in the mirco for about ten minutes. Now, I'm not naming any names, but I think the old MV 911 wuz stiffed in the deal...

But any ho-ha, I was told recently in a job interview there was no way that we did what we said we did in the old Santa Clara days. Just tipping my hat to my favorite engineers, and even tho the work was hard there was something good about a job well done.

Sleepy Rain

From a couple of days ago. Nothing like a little rainy weather to exhaust us.

Studio Update

Just a quick shot of the studio. I'm working on a larger format with some of the paintings from Thailand as a reference. It is still a struggle to get a full painting day in.

Honey Bear

Good day all. I thought I'd share an oldie for all those out there that are victims of the 2005 flu season.
This particular honey bear lives at the Fritz place on Hayes valley.

A special thanks to everyone helping me with my MUNI proposal and I'd like to recommend a great workshop happening Tuesday night:

Seriously

So, some folks have been kidding me that my blog isn't serious. I could get all deep into philosophy and stuff, but really, if everything in our day is all down and out, well what's the point to daily life? I spend a lot of time of the bus. I like to draw. Here's the natural conclusion. I draw other stuff too, which I'll show below.

In short, this blog is a product of my ten minutes of blabbering during my morning coffee. To be honest, this habit grew out of my inability to look at the morning news and the desire to try to capture a snapshot of each day before it blurs away into the rest of our memories. Anyhow, enjoy the day. It's Saturday folks! And hey, Happy Birthday Sis!

Nefarious activities: 1st Thursday

Well a shout out to Friction Ridge and her art project. It is still underwraps but old CheapGirl and an assorted crew went about some business at the Paula Anglim Gallery last night. New work by Robert Bechtle which will soon also be showing at the SFMoMa later this month. For more reading check out http://www.gallerypauleanglim.com/current.html

And I'll leave you with a sketch from the 22 - a nice grandma dozing and her grandson next to her in the background.
For light reading I recommend "Serdes Trio Physical Interface" reading. Oh, and a dismal report from the architect in Boston. Evidently, Boston is the weather Yang for our blue sky Yin. May your flights be on time and your goulashes dry.

Buzzing Speakers

Here's the guy that caught on, and moved:

So, Today I am not starting out in the coffee shop. I'm smack dab in my office early with the startings of a coffee headache and my speakers are a small buzz, buzz, buzz. It's kinda of cool because it is the exact same sound as overhead lights in a gym, but worse. Based on my very close proximity to Best Buy, you'd think I'd jump up and go get speakers but since I haven't had any coffee yet, the idea of making a decision in an electronics store just overwhelms me. I'll leave everyone with a arty shot of a great sunset. Man, what beautiful weather. Oh, yeah, its February. And let's put a little love out there for my favorite architect who flew a red eye last night and had an 9am interview in Boston.

The Good Weather Curse

Yes folks, it is because I need to be formatting text all day that it is BEAUTIFUL in San Francisco today. I don't know about you folks south of 92, but up here it is just fine. Did I mention that I think that we should dig a moat at 92, oh, I'm sorry wrong blog. That's the SF separatist movement blog. It is founded by two knitters and an interior designer that believes all surfaces should be carpeted.

I would like to encourage ya'll to post comments, even if they are unrelated DIY instructions on how to add the right amount of bling to your baby stroller.

So, I'm all groggy because of a fabulous dinner last night. I'd like to give a full report, but I'll save it for when there is a party report. What can I say, our buddy N-dog has hooked up with a fab pad in North Beach that's about 3500 square feet and promises all sorts of fun with a costume closet, jacuzzi, luxurious furry rugs in front of the fire and the cutest mannequin this side of Market Street.

I will leave y'all with a recent sketch and a snapshot from my studio. I know it's hard to believe, but this stuff actually gets used for real apartment sized art.

And I'll leave everyone with this found item, a local bakery truck:

Today is Tuesday

I have to keep this short due to a pressing deadline. I did pick up a tip from the obsessive-compulsive community: When using an cafe internet terminal, it is handy to bring your own windex and clean the entire area before checking email. However, I am at 16th and Valencia, so the fella may have a good point. I leave you with a blurry drawing from the BART.
